Your first visit to Almond Orthodontics will consist of an office tour and an initial consultation, where you  will be able to meet Dr. Almond and our team.  You will receive a complete initial exam with pictures and digital X-rays, and be able to discuss which treatment options are best for your needs and goals.  At your consultation, we will:

  • Review your dental and medical history forms
  • Provide a complete oral exam
  • Discuss all financial options, insurance information, and payment plans
  • Help you create a customized orthodontic treatment plan

Our knowledgeable team is always happy to answer your questions, and we will consult with you to determine which treatment best matches your needs and goals. We invite you to contact our office today to schedule your complimentary initial consultation!

After the consultation, the following orthodontic appointments are scheduled at your convenience:

Bonding Appointment:  Dr. Almond will bond braces to your teeth using a special light cure adhesive that is quick and easy.  This usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour.  The appointment is simple and pain free.   Wires are then placed to begin moving the teeth into a better functional and esthetic position.  After about 6-8 hours, your teeth may feel a little soreness as your body adapts to these changes.

Appliance Appointments:  Some patients can benefit from a special appliance to encourage improved jaw growth that goes along with the braces.  Dr. Almond will explain if an appliance is necessary for you or your child.  Some examples include the rapid palatal expander (RPE), the Herbst Appliance, and Facemask Headgear.  These are usually used for a short part of your treatment but can be very important to the long-term outcome.  Most appliances are seated at the beginning of treatment and then removed after obtaining the desired result.

Adjustment Appointments:  After the needed appliances/ braces are in place, we will see you every 4-8 weeks for adjustment appointments.  These are usually used to change wire size, monitor tooth movement and hygiene, repair damaged or loose brackets, and to change colors on your braces.  Although these appointments are simple and usually finished within 15-30 minutes, they are very important to reaching your goal!

Dentist visits during orthodontic treatment

Our greatest goal is to help you achieve health and happiness!
