Types of Braces

Metal Braces

Traditional Silver Metal Braces

braces-guyThe most common type of braces are traditional silver metal braces. Thanks to advances in orthodontic and dental care and technology, traditional metal braces are more comfortable and effective today than ever before! Metal braces are made of high-grade stainless steel, and they straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires. While wearing metal braces, you have the option to add colored elastics (rubber bands) to make your smile more colorful and unique!

Ceramic Braces

If you are interested in braces that are less visible on your teeth, ceramic braces may be the right choice for you. Ceramic braces are made of clear materials, and they are mainly used on older teenagers and adult patients who want to straighten their teeth more discreetly. Ceramic braces require more attention to oral hygiene than traditional metal braces because ceramic braces are larger and more brittle. Because of this, ceramic braces are used more often on the upper front teeth than on lower teeth.

 Invisible (Clear) Orthodontic Appliances

Rather than using metal brackets and wires, Invisalign uses a series of clear, smooth plastic aligner trays to straighten your teeth. Invisalign aligners are nearly invisible and are removable, allowing you to eat, drink, floss, and brush as usual. Your aligners are custom-made to fit your smile, so they are comfortable and have no metal to cause irritation during orthodontic treatment.
